Students Collage with Binary Data Background
PC Client Requirements

All PC client requirements will be evaluated prior to deployment within each functional area. At this point, we expect all leased client computers on campus to adequately support the Banner system. For reference, the following configurations should be considered:

Minimum* client workstation configuration:

  • Pentium 400 MHz processor
  • 128 - 256 MB RAM
  • 20 GB hard drive
  • Microsoft Windows XP Pro
  • MS Internet Explorer 6.0
  • Oracle JInitiator
  • 1024 x 768 screen resolution

*NOTE - this minimum configuration is based on the Microsoft XP Pro requirements and is subject to change based on resources already being used on the client machine.

Preferred minimum client workstation configuration:

  • Pentium IV, 2.5+ GHz processor
  • 512+ MB RAM
  • 80+GB hard drive
  • Microsoft Windows XP Pro
  • MS Internet Explorer 6.0
  • Oracle JInitiator

End-user reporting considerations:

  • Oracle client connectivity Net8 or better
  • Oracle SQL Plus
  • Oracle ODBC drivers
  • End-user reporting tools (MS Excel, MS Query, Oracle Discoverer)

Self service user’s client configuration (student machines):

  • Any PC or Mac with Internet Explorer 4.x or Netscape 4.x or greater
  • We suggest IE 6.x (5.x on Mac) or Netscape 6.2 for best viewing
